Default Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 11/14/2010

Kid Cudi sells close to 170,000 first-week units, but #1? Cee Lo Green gets Top 10, Twista sneaks into the Top 40, and Joe Budden's "Mood Muzik 4" brings 'em out.

Susan Boyle and Taylor Swift prevented Kid Cudi from a #1 with his sophomore album, Man On The Man II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Despite not appearing at the top of the charts, the Cleveland, Ohio Rap sensation scanned an impressive 170,000 first-week units. His sophomore album features mentor Kanye West as well as Cee Lo Green and former Eastern Conference Records underground emcee Cage. Later this month, Cudi will appear on Kanye West's highly-anticipated My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Further down the charts, last year's Kid Cudi debut, Man On The Moon: The End of Day is on the cusp of garnering a gold plaque for the popular new rapper.

Speaking of Cee Lo Green, the Goodie Mob/Gnarls Barkley alum released his third solo album, The Lady Killer last week. With the highly-popular "F*ck You" taking on the Internet, radio and Glee (courtesy of Gwyneth Paltrow), the Atlanta, Georgia emcee/singer is reaching even more audiences. Selling just over 40,000 albums in the first week, Lady Killer features a cover from Band of Horses ("No One's Gonna Love You") and production from Bruno Mars.

Lil Wayne's I Am Not A Human Being maintained a Top 10 spot, despite falling five units. With tracks featuring Young Money Records artists such as Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Twist, the now liberated emcee may be able to receive a gold plaque before Thanksgiving.

Eminem's Recovery fell four spots to #11. The Interscope/Aftermath Entertainment release has the possibility of reaching the three million mark by next week.

Trey Songz fell 16 spots to #32 with his Passion, Pain & Pleasure. With potential to reach gold next week (as projected last week), Trey may now be Atlantic Records' biggest star in the wake of T.I.'s legal woes. The Petersburg, Virginia native's fourth album features Drake and Nicki Minaj.

Chicago, Illinois emcee pioneer Twista released his third solo album in as many years in The Perfect Storm. With appearances from Chris Brown and Waka Flocka Flame, the EMI-distributed work called back to several of the higher profile Twista releases from years past. However, after critics did not meet the work warmly, it snuck into the Top 40, scanning 14,000 units.

With Lil Boosie presently awaiting a murder trial, his Trill Fam released the second Boosie-related project in six months. The group consisting of Webbie, Foxx, Boosie, Lil Phat, Mouse and others debuted at #45 on the charts, despite limited promotion. The project was distributed through Warner Brothers/Asylum, home to Trill Entertainment.

Rick Ross slipped out of the Top 50 with Teflon Don this week. The Def Jam album, featuring contributions from Kanye West, Jay-Z, Erykah Badu and Cee-Lo could meet its plaque by the holiday season.
