The Doggfather found himself in trouble with the Texan authorities after weed was discovered on his tour bus.
Sniffer dogs discovered just under half an ounce of marijuana on the rapper’s tour bus this weekend.
The bus was stopped by border control at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, a small town in West Texas, and a routine search was carried out. A sniffer dog alerted border patrol to the presence of marijuana in a waste basket near the back of the vehicle. Upon closer inspection, several joints were discovered in a red prescription bottle.
The rap legend admitted that the weed belonged to him, but claimed that he had a Californian prescription for the substance. Texan authorities stated that a zero tolerance policy on drugs exists in Texas, irrespective of the laws in other US states.
Snoop received a citation for misdemeanor drug possession and was released.
Snoop’s acquaintance, fellow marijuana enthusiast, Willie Nelson, was arrested for possession of weed in the same location in 2010. On that occasion, Snoop leapt to the country star’s defence, telling TMZ that the police “better leave Willie the f*ck alone.”
If Snoop is convicted, he faces up to 180 days in jail.
